Is Your Bank Loaded?

Dear Eva Radtke, Managing Director, Global Head of Corporate Communications,

I am a customer of Bank of New York, and I’m writing to urge you to stop supporting the firearm industry and the extremist gun lobby.

In particular, I am asking you to require all retailers to transmit details of gun sales and flag suspicious purchases of firearms, particularly if they come from “bad apple” gun dealers. Credit cards issued by Bank of New York should never be used in a suspicious purchase.

I was surprised to learn that you earned a D in an analysis of banks and their connections to the gun industry. Let me be clear: as your customer, I expect you to do better. Until our nation adopts strict laws that make firearms significantly harder to get and begins to regulate the gun industry and its products, I do not want my hard earned money funding gun manufacturers or political organizations that lobby for a guns everywhere for everyone agenda.

That's why I'm asking you to issue a public policy against doing any new business with firearms manufacturers and establish a process for flagging suspicious gun purchases through your credit cards. Mass killers should not be able to amass small arsenals using Bank of New York credit cards.
